The Shooting

At around 4:15 p.m., a distressing event occurred at the Hustosky residence on Cedarbrook Drive. Dylan Hustosky was shot twice in his left arm by his wife, Kayleigh. The shooting happened through a door, as Dylan later reported in his 911 call. 

Despite being shot twice, Dylan managed to flee the house and call the police for help. He was found across the street near the driveway of Heritage Middle School.

Emergency Response

Upon receiving Dylan’s call, Painesville police quickly arrived at the scene. They found Dylan with gunshot wounds and immediately transported him to TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township. 

He was later transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he underwent surgery and was reported to be in stable condition.

Police Efforts to Communicate 

Meanwhile, police attempted to contact Kayleigh inside the house, but she refused to communicate. Given the severity of the situation, Lake County SWAT was called in to assist. The SWAT team used a robot and drones to enter the home safely. 

Discovery of Kayleigh’s Body

At around 7:42 p.m., they discovered Kayleigh’s body upstairs with a single gunshot wound, which was consistent with suicide.
